Assistance and support for the elderly
This service assists 56 people from two different neighbourhoods of the city. The aim of the senior citizens' clubs is to make it easier for members to socialise, to give them a sense of belonging and a chance to feel part of a family.
"The Daisy Club" has 22 members and meets twice a week, on Monday and Wednesday mornings, at the Foundation's headquarters.
The "Berigaz Club" has 29 members and their meetings are held twice a week at the foundation's headquarters on Tuesday and Thursday mornings.
Four members are assisted at home.
From 1998 to 2018, a third club, "The Hope Club" met in the space of the Nazarene Church as part of the Veritas Seniors Clubs. Recently the club was taken over by the church, but members of all clubs will continue to meet for special events throughout the year.
Services offered to the assisted persons:
- Hot meals (from Monday to Friday)
- Recreational and social activities (discussions on various topics, gymnastics, massage, games, crafts, excursions, movies etc.)
- Spiritual assistance, Bible study
- Assistance at home (during the week, the disabled receive a hot lunch and help with household chores)
- Social assistance (counselling, mediation, assessment, monitoring through home visits, etc.)
- Material support, financial aid in case of emergency
Annual activities: parties (Christmas, Christmas Day, International Women's Day, International Day of the Elderly), camps, excursions, etc. On various occasions, 8 times a year, all three clubs meet and enjoy their time together.
