Advent events

Advent is a time of celebration that prepares us for Christmas. Advent has two meanings: it is the time when we prepare our hearts for the birth of our God, remembering the first coming of the Son of God among us, and at the same time looking forward to the second coming of Christ. So Advent is a season of joyful expectation and worship. Veritas hosts a number of events during this time.

St. Nicholas Day is a special event prepared for children aged 5-12. Children have the opportunity to participate in various creative workshops and are encouraged to identify ways to show kindness and generosity to others, just as St Nicholas did.

The March of Lights is an important event during Advent. On this day, Christians from all the churches of Sighișoara are invited to meet to pray together for the sake of the city. As participants walk a route through the citadel with lit candles, they stop at the three churches in the citadel, the German School and the Town Hall to pray and sing carols. Their route ends in the Fortress Square where the festive atmosphere continues and participants have the opportunity to enjoy a warm drink and cakes.

The ecumenical concert is an event that has evolved from a few friends meeting at the House on the Rock in 2001 to a splendid evening at the Orthodox Cathedral in 2006 with traditional carols from different cultures, in different languages, uniting Christians in the spirit of Christmas. For several years now, the concert has been hosted by the Reformed Church. Choirs from churches in the city take part in the concert, together with vocal and folklore groups from the Sighișoara area. Through the singing of carols and Christmas songs, we want to bring a ray of light into the hearts of all those present, bringing faith, hope and love in our Lord Jesus Christ.
